Big Relief: Online Sales for Christmas Increased
Despite of economic slowdown and financial crisis, online Christmas sales increasing and it is a big relief for the retailers. Some studies revealed that people who never purchased anything online for Christmas are also going for online purchases this time.
The growth rate of online sales was nearly 40% but in 2008, online sales increased by 50%. Most of the observers are saying that in UK, holiday shopping will be peak on 8 December but there is a very slow festive spending online.
The growth was 15% higher than the same period for last year but the growth rate is down from a 54% rise in a year ago. In this year price competitiveness was pressurized both retailers and suppliers. It is said that before 9 am to after 6 pm, some 42% of sales will be registered in non regular business hours.
